An amount of Ghc 120,000.00 has been budgeted for this year’s Second Cycle Inter-Regional Sports Festival.
The Sports Festival is the 31st edition that will be hosted in the Upper East Region from the 11th to the 22nd September. The sports discipline to be competed by the 10 regions are; Soccer, Handball, Table tennis, Volleyball, Athletics, Netball, Hockey, Basketball, Badminton and Fencing.
In all 2,450 sport men and women will be converge in the Upper East Region for the various sports disciplines. The venues for the games will be at the Bolgatanga Senior High School, Bolgatanga Girls Senior High School and Bolgatanga Polytechnic.
In a Media briefing today, 30th August, 2019 at the Regional Coordinating Council, the Upper East Second Cycle Sports Federation Chairman, Mr. Ababu Afelibeik said, they are not finding it easy in soliciting for funds for the games. He added that, they have written letters to Companies, the Municipal and District Assemblies as well as the MPs in the region but they are yet to hear from them.

The Upper East Regional Physical Education Coordinator, Madam Diana Aboor in an interview with the Media said being the host region, they will not be left behind. The children are motivated by the Regional Minister and the Regional Director of Education even thought there are challenges they are doing everything possible to fix it before the start of the program.
