The former minister of Roads and Highways under the Manama administration has challenged the roads and highways minister the the NPP government to terminate the contract if it was wrongfully awarded to Querlroz Galvao, a Brazilian construction company.
Mr Inusha Fuseini who was speaking to the host of the Word Community Watch Show on Word FM in Zuarungu, Simon Agana Blessing said it was never true that the contract was awarded under a mysterious circumstances. He said the contract went through due process and followed all the procurement process before it was awarded.
The former minister said “it is rather ridiculous that government has gone to take a loan facility to pay a contract which they claim was wrongly awarded “
Mr Inusha also disclosed that an amount of Gh¢100m was given to the contract as mobilization money to move to site before the NDC left power.
Reacting to a claim made by the Roads and Highways Minister, Amoako Atta that there was no source of funding, the former Minister said the “contract was funded from the road fund”
He accused the government of diverting about $520m from the road fund in 2018 for none road projects which has contributed to the inability of the government to pay road contractors.
The Minister of Roads and Highways and the President who are on a two-day working visit promised to complete the contract before 2020 election.
