The women wing of governing New Patriotic Party,NPP has organized a regional women conference in the upper east region. The conference was on the theme: “retooling and re-energizing the women wing for victory 2020 and beyond”
The program started with a health walk through the principal streets of the regional capital, Bolgatanga before convening at the sacred heart cathedral where the program was held.
The program was graced by key personalities of the NPP in the region and outside the region. Notable among the dignitaries were the deputy Upper East Regional Minister, Hon. Fuseini Adongo, the aspiring parliamentary candidate in the upcoming NPP parliamentary primaries for the Bolga central constituency, hon. Rex Asanga and other regional and constituency executives.
The women were drawn from all the 15 constituencies across the region.
Delivering her key note address, the Upper East women organizer of the NPP, madam Georgina Ayamba said the conference was an opportunity “to take stock of their activities over the years and to re-energize for victory in the upcoming parliamentary and presidential election in 2020.
Recounting the numerous programs and policies implemented by his excellency, Nana Akuffo Addo, madam Georgina said the women have been the major beneficiaries of the programs like; Free Senior High School, Planting for Food and Jobs, NABCO ,one district, one ware house, one district one factory and other pro-poor policies.
“The NPP has brought relief to women than any other government in the history of Ghana through its pro-poor policies, the free SHS policy. Thousands of Ghanaian women who couldn’t afford to send their wards to SHS because of school fees are now saving thousands of Ghana cedis for other economic ventures as a result of the policy.”
She also said over 800 women caterers have been employed to provide delicious meals to pupils of basic schools.
The regional secretary of the NPP, Mr Asamani Jerimiah advised the women to help make the upcoming constituency primaries an incident free and a successful exercise.
The regional youth organizer, Mr. Latif Solomon also called on the women and the NPP party members in general to maintain unity within the party to work for victory in election 2020 because a house divided by itself cannot stand
